Accrue is building the easiest way for African traders to move money across borders. We're hiring a Merchant Growth Associate to grow Accrue Business on the ground in Ghana — the kind of person who spends mornings in Makola, afternoons in Achimota, and evenings editing a TikTok of a trader they just onboarded.
This isn't a desk job. You'll be in markets, offices, or at lunch, for example, signing up real businesses, running test transactions right there on the spot, and turning insights from those conversations into our next growth loop.
Who You Are
- Comfortable spending most of your day talking to strangers.
- Naturally persuasive, energetic, and hard to embarrass.
- Understand Nigerian and Ghanaian trader culture and informal commerce.
- Can shoot and edit simple mobile content quickly. Vertical video doesn't scare you.
- Obsessed with growth and experimentation.
- Highly resourceful and independent. You don't wait to be told what to do.
- Fluency in Twi, Ga, Pidgin, or other local languages is a strong plus.
Role Description
Cross-border payments in West Africa are still won on the ground, one trader at a time. The person in this role will directly shape how fast Accrue Business grows in Ghana — and what we build next.
What you’ll do:
- Walk into markets (Makola, Achimota, Kaneshie, Madina, etc.) or offices, sign up and fully onboard Nigerian and Ghanaian trader businesses that often send money to Nigeria. Onboarding isn't "done" until they've sent their first transaction.
- Build relationships with trade associations and cut deals that make Accrue the default for cross-border payments.
- Run WhatsApp-based acquisition and retention campaigns aimed at traders and SMEs.
- Create scrappy in-market content — flyers, short videos, testimonials, day-in-the-life trader stories, transaction walkthroughs — using real customers.
- Build referral loops with market leaders, freight forwarders, logistics operators, phone/accessory shops, forex operators, shipping agents, travel agents, and import/export communities.
